What is the difference between Merck's analytical grade, HPLC grade, and GC grade solvents?

Analytical grade solvents meet general purity standards suitable for most lab applications. HPLC grade solvents have very low UV absorbance for use with UV detectors without background interference. GC grade solvents are tested for low residue on evaporation for gas chromatography. Selecting the wrong grade can introduce peaks or interference in analytical results — contact us if you need guidance on grade selection.
