Pumps

Vacuum pumps ensure the removal of air or gases from a sealed space, creating a stable vacuum. Modern vacuum pumps are powerful, consume little energy, require minimal maintenance, and have long lifespans. Rotary vane pumps, piston pumps, diaphragm pumps, and screw pumps are displacement pumps. Water jet pumps function as vacuum ejectors. Each operational principle has its advantages and disadvantages.

Selecting the right vacuum pump depends on the specific application.

Diaphragm and piston vacuum pumps are suitable for rough vacuum, while oil-sealed rotary vane pumps and oil-free screw pumps can achieve deep ultimate vacuum. When choosing a vacuum pump, factors such as pumping speed and ultimate vacuum are crucial. Compatibility with the gases being evacuated is equally important; some pumps are suitable for aggressive gases, while others are only compatible with neutral gases.

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the pump functions properly and lasts long. Wear parts need replacement, and the pump requires periodic cleaning. Laboratory vacuum pumps are compact and handle gaseous, aggressive, and high-purity media. Lastly, single-head diaphragm pumps are used for gases. Peristaltic pumps are pumps that operate based on the peristaltic principle. Peristalsis is a biological term describing the muscle contractions that move food through the digestive tract. The rotor rotates and compresses the hose, pushing the conveyed medium forward. The hose returns to its original position, creating a vacuum that draws in new medium. The hose does not come into contact with the medium, preventing contamination between the pump and the liquid.
