Branson Model B-200 tabletop ultrasonic cleaner has the ability to handle a wide variety of applications. This cleaner uses ultrasonic energy (40 kHz) in the form of sound waves to create millions of tiny microscopic vacuum cavities in the solution. As these cavities collapse, they release high frequency energy, loosening dirt on all surfaces that the solution touches. This activity, called cavitation, occurs thousands of times per second to gently yet thoroughly scrub contamination off the article being cleaned. Typical applications include laboratory glassware, instrument parts, small geological samples, metal and plastic machined parts, small electrical/electronic components, recorder and drafting pens, optical components and jewellery. With automatic timer, complete with lid and basket.

With ultrasonic cleaners, you achieve maximum cleanliness for the items being cleaned, thereby preserving their quality and functionality. These devices are utilized in industries such as automotive, shipbuilding, filtration, molding, food and beverage, healthcare, medical practices, optician stores, laboratory research, and hospital laboratories. They professionally clean items such as jewelry, watches, cutlery, firearms, tools, printing rollers, heat exchangers, dental instruments, tattoo machines, orthopedic implants, and even dentures, effectively removing oil, stubborn dirt, tissue residues, and odors.
Ultrasonic Cleaning – Applications
Ultrasonic cleaning is a highly effective method using ultrasonic cleaners. Due to its efficient cleaning capability, ultrasonic cleaning is widely used in the medical and dental sectors. Ultrasonic cleaners are not limited to medical applications but also serve electronics and technology. In this article, we explain the functioning of ultrasonic cleaning.
How Ultrasonic Cleaning Works
Ultrasonic cleaning requires an ultrasonic cleaner. How does an ultrasonic device work? The device uses sound waves to clean objects. In an ultrasonic solution, the intensity of sound increases, creating a vacuum. The resulting vacuum causes the formation of tens of thousands of tiny vapor bubbles. When these vapor bubbles are hit by a sound wave, they begin to vibrate.
These vibrations cause the vapor bubbles to grow until they become unstable and collapse. The collapse generates small yet powerful currents in the ultrasonic solution. The simultaneous occurrence of tens of thousands of collapses results in a strong reaction known as ultrasonic cleaning.
How to Use an Ultrasonic Cleaner
The operation of ultrasonic cleaning has been explained. But how do you use an ultrasonic cleaner? Each ultrasonic device is filled with (deionized) water and ultrasonic solution. We recommend not placing items directly on the bottom of the device. Therefore, our ultrasonic cleaners come with a basket. Additionally, we offer you additional baskets with extra-fine mesh, ideal for small parts and instruments. These are available in round and rectangular shapes. When choosing the format, please consider the space occupied by the baskets.
Degassing Before Cleaning
Before inserting items into the cleaning bath, it is important to degas the cleaning bath and bring it to the correct temperature. Please ensure that the ultrasonic bath is filled to the fill line or at least two-thirds full with ultrasonic solution. Do you have a digital ultrasonic cleaner? If available, the device may have a degassing function. If there is no "degassing" function, of course. Alternatively, you can turn on the ultrasonic cleaner for 10 to 30 minutes with the ultrasonic function to achieve the same effect. The duration depends on the size of the cleaner. For a cleaner with a volume of 10 liters, the degassing time is 10 minutes. For a cleaner with a capacity of 27 liters, the degassing process takes 30 minutes. Please note that degassing increases the temperature of the ultrasonic cleaner.
After preparing the cleaning bath, you can place the items in the ultrasonic cleaning device. There are two cleaning options: direct and indirect. In direct cleaning, the object is placed directly into the cleaning bath. It is important to replace the fluid after each cleaning process. Indirect cleaning uses a glass beaker and a fine mesh basket. Using a glass beaker allows simultaneous cleaning of multiple materials, while loose dirt does not remain in your ultrasonic cleaner. Please note that items must be rinsed with warm water after cleaning. This prevents the cleaning fluid from saturating.
What Are Frequencies?
The frequency of vibrations and sounds is measured in hertz, also abbreviated as Hz. Frequencies used for ultrasonic cleaning typically range from 20 kHz to 50 kHz. A frequency of 20 kHz produces relatively large air bubbles, ensuring quick and powerful cleaning. A kHz of 40 produces small bubbles that provide particularly intense cleaning. This frequency is especially suitable for cleaning cavities. The small air bubbles allow for thorough cleaning. Häberle LABORTECHNIK ultrasonic cleaners feature a high cleaning frequency of 40 kHz, ensuring thorough ultrasonic cleaning.
Advantages of Ultrasonic Cleaning
The principle of ultrasonic cleaning should now be clear. But what are the main advantages of this system?
Thoroughly Clean Results
Ultrasonic cleaning primarily delivers the most thorough results. Cleaning is deep down, ensuring difficult surfaces and hard-to-reach areas remain flawless. Such intensity cannot be achieved by hand without damaging the objects.
No Scratches or Damage
Another advantage is that objects are not affected or damaged during ultrasonic cleaning. There is also no abrasive effect. Even the most sensitive and complex molded parts can be cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner.
We carry ultrasonic cleaners from manufacturers such as Bandelin, Elma, Branson, and more.
