pH measuring instrument
The pH measurement is extremely versatile and is part of the standard analysis in many areas. With the help of the pH value, a solution is characterized as acidic, neutral or alkaline (basic). The pH value of a solution usually influences the properties of the liquid and is temperature-dependent. For the measurement itself, either simple test sticks, indicators (papers) or electro-chemical measuring systems (combined pH electrodes) are used. The electrodes of the hand-held devices or stationary table-top devices are calibrated with the help of buffers before the measurement. Today, online pH measurements in water analysis are standard in municipal water supply. pH electrodes are also used for titrations.
